Wiser2 stopped connecting to the CBus network

Everything has been working for a few years.
Recently a few switches would randomly have a button turned on, always the same buttons.
Sometimes on some switches if you pressed a button the led would just flash and not turn on the light.
Over the past few weeks this happened with a few different switches.
They eventually started working again without doing anything.
On this occassion I loaded Toolkit and resaved the switch and it then worked.
Due to the randon buttons being set, I started up Piced and resent the project to the Wiser2.
After booting, it would not connect to the CBus network.
The CBus light on the Wiser2 was red.
I have an older Wiser2 which I had previously done a factory reset and plugged it in.
It connected to the CBus network.
So, I did a factory reset on the Wiser2 that was in use and plugged that in, it also now connected to the CBus network.
So I again started up Piced and sent the project to Wiser2, after booting, it would not connect to the CBus network.
I then plugged in the old Wiser2 (factory resetted) and it connected to the CBus network.
I decided to have a look at some switches.
I disonected 8 of them and then plugged in the Wiser2 which has the project loaded, still would not connect to CBUS.
I then had a closer look at those switches and a few of them had 1 broken wire, 1 was on the + connector and the other switches had a broken wire on the - connector.
I fixed those (except for 1) and reconncted them all.
The Wiser2 with the project still would not connect to CBus but the factory resetted Wiser2 would still connect.
I still have about 13 or 14 others still to check.


So, as an interim step, I am running the project on piced whcih is connected to CBUS.

Any thouhts or suggestions would be appreciated.

 

Just noticed that 2 Dimmers which both have a Solid green CBUS light are not being found on the network.
They can manually turn light on/off.

 

If a led flashes on a switch this is a communications error. Most common issues are a wiring fault or bad power supply. If the system is over 10 years old a failed power supply is common likely. Check that first on the back of a few switches. Cbus kind of works down to around 15 volts but anything below 20 is suspicious. Even if the voltages are ok, a power supply can still be faulty as they generate a lot of noise when failing. Try running the diagnostic utility and see if it finds all the units. It can also show you all the voltages. Get the system working first then worry about the Wiser.

 

Initiuasly a Clipsal Mider system was also installed, this was replaced in 2011 with a NESS M1 Gold with the CBus card.

The system was installed and handed over in 2004.
Later, some hardwired switches were replaced with CBus switches andthe following
5504RVF, 5504D2A, 5508D1A.

In 2019 the original CNI, PACA, Relays and dimmers were replaced with DIN Rail units and a Wiser2.
L5508RVFP, 5508D1D x 2

All voltages show between 31.4 and 32.6 volts.
Some of the original switches do not show the serial nbr or voltage.

I checked all of the original switches and found a few of them had broken wires, most were on the - terminal whilst 1 of them was on the + terminal.
I fixed those broken wires and all units were then found.

The remaing issue is that the Wiser2 which is loaded with the Piced project still has the CBus light RED.
Yet the Wiser2 with NO Piced project connects to CBus.

I will be creating a blank project to test if it connects to CBus and if it does, I will slowly add some modules to see what happens.

 

Latest update.

1 Wiser2 is a Spacelogic unit from 2024, the other is a Wiser2 from 2018.

Did another firmware reset on the Spacelogic unit.
Reinstalled the SLHomeControllerfirmware_2_01_1.img
Logged in and it asked to change the admin password (does not do this if you used the HDMI and keyboard to log in).
Set the following
Toolkit Control
Projector Control
Projector Update
Waited for each setting to do its reboot
Plugged it into CBus and the CBUs was green.
Created a blank project in Piced v4.15.4.290
Although it is blank, I mean there is NO logic or any code or variables etc in the project.
Just has Options-Project -- Project name etc

Daylight savings
Added my profile so I do not need to use the admin profile.

Plugged it into CBus and the CBus light is RED.

So for the moment I am still running the Piced Project on the PC .
