    Wiser 2 Gmail support

My Wiser 2 should occasionally send me and email when something happens.

This has functioned well for years and never missed a beat until I changed my password of my gmail account and forgot to alter the Wiser.

When I realised my error and sorted out my password in PICED and transferred the project when I tested the email I received an email from Google

    Gmail config in Piced

So the Question is how can I send emails securely and reliably from Wiser2?

There is a setting in Google that allows you to enable less secure apps. Beleive the issue is how the mail client /app transfers the username and password from the app (in this case Wiser) to the server.

That said I have a sky email account which is basically yahoo and they went one step further and now I cannot use any 'non secure' email clients. Hopefully Google hasn't gone that far and you can turn it back on.

The issue with less secure setting is google will turn it off if its not being used. As the wiser only sends me emails when the alarm activates and a couple of other rare events chances are its going to be turned off when I need it.
Does any body know of any free email services that don't implement this secure setting?

Thanks chromus for your suggestion unfortunately that method looks like you have to subscribe and pay.

What I did to resolve the issue was to:-
Open the Gmail account that I use on the wiser in Chrome
Access the accounts page ‘Manage your google account’
Then go to the security setting on the left hand side.
Enabled 2 Step verification, this requires a few choices to be made.
When the 2 Step verification is completed and you go back to the security page just beneath the 2 Step verification selection appears an , 'App Password' click on this and
follow through creating an app password for your wiser.
Copy the generated password into PICED, email manager, use the generated password instead of you email password.
Transfer the project to your wiser and hey presto all working.

Note the test email feature in PICED did not work for me.

I trigger emails for alarm arm/disarm which acts as a more regular keepalive on the gmail account.

OT, my logic is running in HomeGate on a NUC so I added hMailServer as a proxy to gmail, which has been set & forget apart from password changes.
