So coming out of my other thread I have a few quick questions to the Toolkit guys.

The driver installer that is included in the toolkit install, is that version number equiv to the sil labs number? If not is there a way to tell what version is currently getting shipped with Toolkit?

If it is it looks like 6.4 is a few versions behind what sil labs are up too. I tried updating the driver using the driver installer direct from sil labs but I couldn't get it to work. Would there be any pointers for that?

    OS: XP and 7

    Thanks muchly!!

    Hi jboer,

The Silabs driver needs to be repackaged by us to support the Clipsal USB device identifiers (https://usb-ids.gowdy.us/read/UD/166a).

We do this each time we begin work on the next major Toolkit version so the driver receives extensive testing during the cycle. As a rule we avoid out-of-cycle updates because we have been bitten in the past by hastily including driver updates that turn out to have bugs.

I can confirm that Silabs v6.6.1 is undergoing this process but don't have any ETA for it. To our knowledge the only thing this version will bring is better Windows 8 support.

    Thanks Daniel,

I guessed as much with the identifiers. I am mostly interested in the write timeout calc and BSOD fixes.

For those playing along at home: http://www.silabs.com/Support Documents/Software/CP210x_VCP_Windows_Release_Notes.txt

I also understand with not hurrying out driver patches, your obviously not the first to be caught with such things. As they say if it ain't broke don't fix it!

I have managed to update the driver to 6.6.1 so will give it a go and see how it goes.
