Toolkit scan one unit as dublicate without any obvious reason

Υesterday I received a call for service in an 5 years old C-Bus installation.
The reason was that without any obvious reason, for the 3 shutters of the installation, both up and down channel on the relay units went ON and as result 2 motors were destroyed. They told me that also both buttons in the NEO switch went ON although due to the program this is not possible (http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1008&highlight=shutter+neo)

Anyway, when i got there the system worked fine. I connected with toolkit and I had these problem:
1. A 12ch relay unit although it worked fine, toolkit couldn't find it.
2. A DSI unit was identified as duplicate, as shown in attached picture, and although I 've done several times unravel, nothing happened. At first I though that Toolkit found both relay and dsi unit in the same address (although this is not possible in a working programmed installation). However when I unplug the relay unit I got the same result.

Any ideas why this happened? I have one panel and I do not connect the remote ON OFF cables of UTP

Any way to retrieve these units?

Duplicity

Hello 2SC.
We've been seeing something similar here when using Toolkit 1.12.1, especially on older sites where units don't broadcast serial numbers. I was made aware of this in 1.12.0 so I waited for 1.12.1 - no change. Temporary solution was rolling back to 1.11.xx

There is a known issue with units where the EEPROM is damaged or worn out and can no longer be written to. These units will continue to function on a c-bus network but will report as DUPLICATE in Toolkit 1.12.x and therefore can't be edited. Note that they are unlikely to apply changes successfully even if you could open the dialog.

We have an open issue to handle this better (issue #22960) so that the user will receive a unique error and can still view the unit configuration read-only. I'm afraid until then you will need to use Toolkit 1.11.12 to view those units.

It is important to use changeover relays wired in such a way (i.e interlocked) so that no matter what combination of relays are energised, power can never be applied to both the up and down motors at the same time. It is not adequate to rely on software logic to implement this interlocking.

The C-Bus blind control relay implements this all in one package, plus it implements the required delay between changing directions. Before the blind control relays were available it was possible to use C-Bus changeover relays for the interlocking, and a C-Bus logic engine for the delay between direction changes. Before any C-Bus changeover relays were available, it was necessary to drive non-C-Bus SPDT changeover relays from C-Bus SPST relays, in order to implement the relay interlocking, and logic in some other form for the changeover delay (e.g. in the now obsolete Home Minder).

Thank you very much for your replies. Anyway I have several DSI units in stock and I will replace the unit since I dont use them any more.

Regarding the relay unit any idea? The unit although it works fine, ie do what is programmed to do, cant be found by Toolkit.

I am having this problem a fair bit as well, but mostly with single channel relays that still don't transmit serial numbers. Again rolling back seems to be the only fix.

Edit: Just to clarify that it always happens when readdressing single channel relays. Once you readdress a unit it then comes up as duplicate and is unusable.

Multiple versions of c-gate

Is it possible to install 2 versions of Toolkit on one PC? (only need to access one at a time). The problem so far for me is c-gate generating an 'Error 105001' message with the body essentially saying I've got the wrong version of c-gate.
Creating a new folder for Toolkit and C-gate installs hasn't helped.
We have used Toolkit 1.12.1 (PICED, HomeGate, Schedule Plus) on quite a number of sites, but still need to support some older ones. I suppose rolling all sites back to accommodate Toolkit 1.11.12 is still the best option??
