Problems updating firmware on 5508D1D

Anyone had issues updating firmware on these?
Have a 5516RVF that appeared in the update list and updated no worries but with the same setup could not get 2 different dimmers to show up on the list.
Have latest versions of commission and toolkit and c-gate downloaded today running on windows 10.
Tried just connecting usb, USB and cbus, USB and 240v to all 3 connections and USB, Cbus and 240v. Same thing it just sits there with the spinning wheel when you hit refresh.
Can see them in the project screen and have connected and programmed it but commission software is telling me they need firmware update. Current firmware is 1.3 and supposed to go to 1.4?
Any ideas?

 

I think you just need USB connectivity. the new dimmer firmware is not updated via the C-Bus network. Make sure your USB cable has the data pins connected, not just a USB power cable. For most modern PCs its just a USB C to USB C cable.

 

Do you need any new features that the firmware offers? if not commission until functional and move along - I wont tell anyone if you don't LOL

 

Does the firmware actually offer any new features or bugfixes? Very hard to find any information. I have three of those units that I've never upgraded for fear of bricking them, especially considering there's no support in the UK any more.
