Does a CNI used with the Lantronics virtual comm port software function the same as a PCI?

i.e. will the Public Release Protocol work correctly when connected to a CNI via the Lantronics redirection software.

I suspect the answer is no.

    The answer is yes.

You need to find the port that the CNI is listening on. When you open a socket connection to that port the stuff you send and receive is the same as a PCI.

To clarrify further, when using the "redirector" software it looks exactly like a PCI as it appears a com port on your PC. The commands are the same to talk to the redirector port and a real PCI.

As Ashliegh says if you are writing you own application and have access to TCP/IP sockets in your development tool, you don't need the redirector software. You can just open a socket direct to the CNI using the correct IP Address and Port and talk using the same protocol as the PCI uses.

I have an MSS100, and do NOT need the redirector tool - you point the toolkit at port 3001 on the MSS100 IP (stating it's a Network CBUS unit).

    Same for Comfort (Comfigurator).
