Is this an existing network that used to work or a new one? Is it a USB PCI or serial RS232 PCI you are connecting to via a USB to serial adapter? (the serial PCI is fussy about these).

Things to check (they will be in your course notes): Sufficient Power (measure the voltage). Correct burden. Small networks need a burden. It can be a hardware burden plugged into the network somewhere, or a software burden enabled on unit 1 (normally the PCI). If the PCI isn't unit 1 and you don't have a hardware burden you will have problems connecting. Check all cabling carefully. If it is a big system, partition it down the the PCI and a few devices (making sure there is enough power of course), then add sections back a bit at a time. Be methodical.

thanks alot for responding Ashley that is great information. It is a USB PCI, connected with the type B usb cable( i think its called).Ive just recently added the PCI into the install , as there was currently no PCI. Iam Adding in the PCI to program only 2 light circuits and some Fans which have been also recently added into the installation. I will try out everything you have said first thing in the morning. Thanks for the help
