I run C-Gate on a Win 7 PC connected to a serial PCI. Touchscreen connects to this and leaves CNI free for TouchSoft app.

Recently changed to a new touchscreen which (unfortunately) runs Win 8. I can successfully run c-gate and Homegate on the Win 8 machine (connecting to C-Bus via CNI) but I cannot connect from the Win8 PC using Toolkit remote to the Win 7 c-gate.

I can, however, connect the Win 8 PC running Homegate to the Win 7 C-gate.

Any ideas why Homegate is happy to connect to c-gate but Toolkit isn't? When Toolkit connects the c-gate machine shows the following (connect and instant disconnect) and C-gate on win 8 gives a 2080 error. No firewalls are active.

    20121224-100044 803 cmd7 - Host:/192.168.0.34 opened command interface from port: 50118
    20121224-100044 804 cmd7 - Host:/192.168.0.34 closed command interface from port: 50118

    Thanks

Have you started with disabling all the firewalls?

If you disable all firewalls, and it works, then that gives a big hint about what to do next (ie put the right firewall rules in on one or the other or both machines).

    Firewalls are are disabled.

Not sure how Toolkit communicates vs HomeGate as HomeGate is ok but Toolkit isn't.

They both make (TCP) socket connections.

Toolkit makes a (secured) SSL connection. I don't think Homegate does.

    Windows 8, Remote C-Gate

Would love to know if anyone has sucessfully connected from a Windows 8 machine running toolkit to a Win 7 (or Xp) machine running c-gate using toolkit's remote c-gate option.

Still getting error 2080 at the toolkit end, and an instant connect and disconnect at the c-gate end (but no error at the c-gate end).

    Thanks
