In toolkit in the DLT text section if you change the DLT text to a blank and save to database the next time you come back toolkit puts in the group label.

Why doen't it remeber the empty field and keep the xml as small as possible

    Hi Dave,

Are you having a problem with the size of the XML project files generated by C-gate / Toolkit?

As the xml files are the starting point for all the other products I think it important to make as small and efficient as possible. Having junk data in the file only adds to overhead - it adds about 80-100 per group which added about 25k to my test project (250 group).
Thats a lot of data for toolkit, cgate etc to read/write every time ther is a change to a setting, and save to database.
The xml should be lean and keen.

I aware of your concerns, and I have noted them to be looked at. But in reality the 25K might add a few millisends of processing on our part. Believe me processing the XML is *not* the slow point in C-Gate or Toolkit. (Circa v2 currently processes a 10MB XML file in about a second using the same code, and that is much larger than the typical projext XML file).

That's why I wanted to know if you are experiencing a real observable problem due to project XML sizes. However, we will look at ways to optimise the XML generated.

Size is not a killer when in office were i got lots of steam but when i use my old laptop (win98) it makes a big difference. Time for a new laptop i think.
Also have noticed it not so much the size of the xml file but how many changes you make while in toolkit that seems to make toolkit slow - exiting out of toolkit and restarting fixes it.

    tks anyway

We've been looking into this slowing down issue.. hopefully a resolution isnt too far away.
