This must have been asked (and answered) before, but after half-an-hour searching I feel relaxed about asking!

I am looking to build some code which interfaces to C-Gate. Months ago I did a simple application to switch a light on and off via C-Gate and Sockets. I cannot remember where I found the example code which I used.

Now I am looking to get a bit more complex - including having the ability to read values from a 5504GI.

Is there somewhere that the C-Gate command set is documented? From looking at my copy of C-Gate, I think I need the "Command and Event Interface Specification". Where can I find that?

    Thanks

A manual for C-Gate is almost complete ... not sure why it keeps taking so long, but it does have to cover a lot of ground, there are a lot of stuff in C-Gate that we have never made public that this document will explain.

Thanks Richo, that is good news..... and I know better than to ask for a beta copy!

However, does anyone have anything more comprehensive than the article I have mentioned above??

    Cheers

    Partial Solution

    Guys,

Thanks to another post on here, I have found the documentation for C-Gate 1.5 - go to the Clipsal site, download 1.5 and then opt for just the documentation on the install.

Any pitfalls using that or will it at least give me some pointers?

    Nick

A lot of the 1.5 doco is still relevant. However it refers to networks.txt file which are no longer used, instead cgate 2 uses project. There are other posts (form me) that cover the basics of gettin gstarted using projects and then 1.5 doco covers the basics of using groups etc...

So to answer you question it is very relevant.

Thanks Richo - it was the Load / Use / Start bit that I was missing -- it must be a very long time since I last "talked" to C-Gate.

I now have my embrionic application happily chatting to C-Gate again.

One more question if I may. Now that C-Gate is aware of Projects rather than just Units, Groups, etc..... Is there any way that C-Gate can be persuaded to return Group Names?

    Thanks, Nick.

Certainly it can be done. The doco should hopefully reveal all once released. :)
