The Application Log

The Application Log

C-Bus Toolkit has an invaluable bit of functionality called "The Application Log".

The Application Log is used to snoop on messages that are being sent around the Bus, most notably "Load Change" events such as Groups going ON, OFF, or ramping to a specific Level.

To access the Application Log, make sure you can see the Project Manager on the left. If you cant, press the "Show Project Manager" button in the Top Left of your Toolkit screen.

Each Application (such as Lighting, Heating etc) have their own Application Log. Select the Application that you're interested in, in this case I have selected the Lighting Application, expand the Application Node and select the "Application Log" Node as shown below:

Now press a button on an input unit that controls a load on the Lighting Application, you will see the events that occured on the Bus, here's the Application Log after 3 seperate toggle operations from 3 different units:

I have clicked on one of the Events. There are buttons that allow me to DIRECTLY edit the Group OR the Unit involved in the Event.

The Application Log is a great diagnostic aid, it can be used to identify units, determine WHY loads changed state, identify groups, fault find a Network, test a Network.

The Application Log will become one of your best friends.
