    Hi all,

I've downloaded the Vista mce plugin from the Clipsal website - installed fine but so far no luck actually getting it to run on my Windows7 media center machine. It shows up as a 'module' but when I select it, the system hangs (as if it is preparing the software, and indeed it does generate an XML file) and does not come good (waited for upto an hour).

Is this a lost cause, is there no compatibility with Win7? My machine is 64-bit and I did install the 64-bit plug-in...

I am about to create a new media center environment and was planning on running Win7 again - it would be a shame to have to use Vista for this single application...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've been running both the 32bit and 64bit versions of the plug-in on Windows 7 Media Centre for months now without problems. Can you connect to the Wiser from that machine using a Web browser? If you get the username/pasword wrong it will come up with an unauthorized error, so it has to be an ip address/port issue

    Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the response - that give me hope! I can connect to the IP of the Wiser from the machine, everything seems to work fine except the MCE plug-in. I've tried it locally and on an MCE extender to no avail.

Just tried again this morning, it seems that connection works fine, as the socket-data log file in c:\program files\wiser compiles and shows:

The file then keeps growing and cycling on the 'power consumption data' as if it is running, but I see nothing in media center except "Connecting to Wiser"

Ok - so the mystery continues...

Following some vigorous 'trial-and-error' methods - I've discovered that even though the final Wiser interface doesn't load (I just get the grey box in the middle saying "Connecting to Wiser" by pressing random buttons I can get the lights to flash on and off around the house.

...Great...but not very useful; it should however rule out a connectivity issue; I'm beginning to think this may have something to do with my versions of Flash or Java - which to my knowledge are both completely up to date. Is anybody able to tell me what versions I should be using? The Wiser program loads up fine on the host PC (outside of windows media player 7).

Any thoughts based on this new intel?
