New here, I am supporting a system of a client and he has used parallels in the past for editing of the system previous to the windows 11 update. We are now in a parallel of windows 11 and have ran into a couple issues when trying to open the network.

after getting to com port selected in device manager and trying to open the network we end up getting an error of "pci failed to reset. network could not open."

I am able to use the same cable attached to my laptop using windows 10 to open the network.

Is this a compatibility issue with windows 11 or is it something in the parallels causing this issue?

    Thank you

    Hi
    Which PCI do you have?
Is it an Intel Mac or M1?
I was able to connect to the CBus network via Apple USB-C adapter to USB FTDI adapter to RS232 CBus PCI from M1 MacBook Pro running Windows 11 VM in Parallels.
Quite surprising that is even possible.
Initially the FDTI USB adapter could not find a driver so I downloaded one from FTDI website.
Still didn't work so I went back to look again and found the specific driver for Windows ARM was required.

If you have Clipsal USB PCI and M1 Mac running an ARM version of Windows it could be a driver issue.

I am using a pascal automation controller for the access.
    M1 chip
I am unsure of the situation with the cable itself other than it is a USB ab type cable.

The PACA will need a USB driver on the Windows VM and if you are having trouble I suspect that could be the problem.

    Hi Daryl!
I'm running the same system as you are; Windows 11 VM on Mac M1 parallels host. Where did you find the majic driver to connect from your USB C to your PACA? I'm using a apple dongle from USB C to USB 2, then to the PACA.

    Thank you!!!

I've been finding quite a few tasks you just cannot do on the M1 ARM platform at this time.
FTDI has an ARM driver for their USB serial adapter and I was able to use an RS232 PCI to connect to CBus Toolkit.
I have also been able to connect with an ethernet interface.
I don't know if it is possible but I was unable to get a Windows ARM driver to work with PACA.

Unless someone says otherwise I recommend using an x86-64 PC or an alternative PC interface.

Has anyone been able to find an ARM driver to make this possible?

I had many problems using ser2sock on Arm (particularly Pi's). After changing to Ser2Net, I've had no issues with PCI's (RS232), USB PC interfaces or PACA's. I have some crappy RS232 leads that don't work with Windows but haven't tried with the Pi running Ser2Net. On my 'ToDo' list.

The only (unrelated) problem is when using CGate on the Pi, it will not configure an eDLT. This is due to C# which will not work unless on a Windows PC. I need to disconnect CGate, hand the PC Interface (or CNI) across to PC running local CGate, do my programming and then hand it back to remote CGate.

Did you have any indication what was causing problems with CGate on raspberry pi?
I've found it quite stable on my test setups?

CGate itself is stable. It runs perfectly with Homebridge and I can remote connect with Toolkit (although only having port 20123 available for remote connect is a pain in the arse). The issue is loading the UI for an eDLT. It crashes Toolkit. If I stop the cgate server on the Pi and remote into the CNI with a local (Windows) CGate running, all is fine. It seems anything to do with eDLT on remote cgate causes this crash. Seen it on multiple sites and have used several versions of CGate, Toolkit and PCs. The common things are eDLT UI when CGate is running on a Pi.

I was able to get the Clipsal USB PCI to connect on the M1 MacBook using this driver.
    https://www.silabs.com/developers/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers?tab=downloads
    CP210x Universal Windows Driver v11.2.0 10/21/2022
Manually install silab driver by right clicking, select install the .inf file in the download.
Set parallels to connect external devices to the active VM
    Connect USB PCI
In device manager right click and select install driver for the device.
    Select manual from PC
    Select Ports
    Select silicon labs driver

    Edit
Also was able to connect to CBus via USB with the PACA
Haven't used either yet but was able to connect and scan CBus network
