    Default Windows 10 and CNI

I am a long time stalker of the forums and have toyed with CBus but never to any level of skills.

I am just trying to help my kids set up their place and pulled out my trusty CNI and my windows 10 laptop and I got nothing.

Scanned my network with an app and still nothing.

The lights are on but noone is home...

Any thoughts, or someone up north want a cashie?

    Hi Phoneman
There was recently some problems with CBus Toolkit 1.14.4 and Windows 10.
    http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=56253

I just checked the CIS website and it seems to be resolved.
Check that you have Toolkit 1.14.4 build 2318 not 2323.

Without describing all the details or a specific problem it's going to be pretty hard to get an answer on the forum.
After our PM chat it seems your first task is to set up the CNI.
There are two versions of DIN mounted CNI, 5500CN and 5500CN2.
    Each has different setup methods.
Google will help you find the installation instructions and allow you to work through either of them.

If you are having trouble finding someone in Adelaide try contacting CIS, Clipsal or an electrical wholesaler for some installer contact details.

My email and phone number are in the PM I sent.
You are welcome to try arrange a call when you are ready to have a go at it.

    Cni

    Ok Darryl et al,

This was starting to look a bit better then crash!!

    I have a 5500CN device.

I have downloaded the Lantronix Device installer and upgraded the firmware to the latest version thus I can address the device through the lantronix and set the ip address etc.

Once that is done I got all excited and thought I was nearly there.

Using the Lantronix interface I set the IP manually with Port 9999 and also let it set it automatically. I then set it as the default IP on the Toolkit (Build 2318) and the error message An error has occurred. No network could be found.....

    Any thoughts?

Well I finally broke through and have the Toolbox at least seeing the CNI and when I scan it sees the devices...

When I have the audacity to try and open the project I immediately get this message....

    Exception occured at $00000000(Module: , Procedure: , Source: , Line: 0)
Exception 'EAccessViolation' in module CBusToolkit.exe at 0059663C
Access violation at address 00B9763C in module 'CBusToolkit.exe'. Read of address 00000018

Module: UNKNOWN, Source: UNKNOWN, Line UNKNOWN
    Procedure: UNKNOWN

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Well done
Someone might chime in who knows what that error means but could you try this for now.
    Add the project manually.
    Set the connection details manually.
Port 10001 is default for the CGate connection (9999 is for telnet setup)
    Then "open" the network.

Now that you know how to get so far you can go the CNI web page or telnet and reset CNI to default if you need to have another go.

    Nice work
For the benefit of everyone reading, what was the main problem?

Was it just a bit difficult for you to get the CNI ip address sorted?
Or did you have some problem with Windows 10 and Toolkit scanning the CBus network?

I've just gone to Windows 10, and C-Bus toolkit ver 1.14.5 doesn't seem to work, it looks like C-Gate crashes as soon as the toolkit tries to connect, so I get a window saying that there are no CNIs and it won't try to scan for one.

Frustrating, has anyone got round this, apart from using an old PC with something pre-Win10?
