Just perusing the app store as you do and noticed the original wiser iphone app and the wiser hd app have gone and there is just a single wiser1 hd app now..

Are the old apps lost forever as the new app I find is not a clean on the phone as the old original wiser app..

    Cheers..

iOS 8 breaks original Wiser App WAN Connectivity

Possibly the original Wiser app has been removed because WAN connectivity is broken in iOS8 (on an iPhone 5s) Must have been easier than fixing it?

I can confirm the application was removed by Apple due to an incompatibility with newer versions of iOS. We are aware of this and working through a process to find a suitable solution.

    Please find a solution.

Upgrading to ios8 has become a nightmare now that none of my Wiser Apps work.

For me (on an iPhone 5S) neither the original Wiser app (which I prefer) or the Wiser HD app work - either on Wifi or 3G/4G.

    Very sad...

    Please find a fix soon!

    Hi Ambro,

Perhaps you can give some additional info for those out there that can make use of it.. iOS version, App Type and Version?

I have full access (3G and Wifi) from 3 of the Apps on both my iPhone 4 running iOS7.1.2 and my iPad Air running iOS8.1, will test the gf's iPhone 5s tonight..

    Apps I have:
    Wiser 1.3.0
    WiserOldAccount (Old HD App) 1.2.0
    Wiser HD 1.2.0

I also have 'Schneider' App which allows Wifi Access but not 3G, However I believe that's because I got access to it by chance when it was accidently released into the App Store..

All three apps (the same as you)
    Iphone5s
iOS8.0.2 (upgrading to 8.1 & I'll post back if it's works with this)
    LAN works but WAN doesn't.

See the attached file for the error which pops up on both HD apps.
This errors appears when you first start the app but disappears Lmost immediately leaving you at the config screen. From there you can hit connect and if you're on wan then it just hangs on 'connecting wiser'.

Everything worked fine until IOS8+ was installed.

I have just had a play on my gf's iPhone 5 with iOS8.0.2

All 3 apps working fine on both wifi and 3g.. The same message you have shown pops up on initial opening of the app, but then it goes to the setup screen, and i hit connect and away it goes..

Might I suggest wiping the setting out of the apps and re-entering all your details..

Also before you do that i just noticed in the settings of the wiser apps (ie under the iphone settings) there is a use cellular data tick box, make sure this is turned on, i just turned it off and now the app is hanging..

And finally i also just found the horizontal and vertical scroll option in the settings.. One of my most hated things about the apps have just been fixed.. Vertical scroll all changed to horizontal!!

I've done all that you have suggested and even deleted the apps / hard restarted and reinstalled.

The HD apps load in and run with the same WAN problem.
The original app doesn't even load into the phone now - it get 3/4 way through and hangs on the install....

Roosta - can you confirm that is a 5 or 5s that your GF has.

She has just a 5.. Will test on a mates iPhone 6 tomorrow.. But I am leaning towards thinking its a setup issue, more than a software/app incompatibility..

Strange that nothing else has changed though.. Are you using dns? Are you able to remote access your wiser from any other device? Ie laptop, pc, android device? Have your tried accessing via safari to ensure comms?

    Ok, another suggestion for you..

Go to iphone settings to 'cellular' or 'mobile data' just below the wifi, bluetooth options, scroll down and make sure wiser apps are enabled to use cellular data.. I juSt turned these off and and the apps hang just as you describe..

It's all on, even turned off and on to no avail.

Question still remains is you GFs phone a 5s? (The one with the fingerprints biometrics).

    Hey Ambro,

Just had a tinker on my mates iPhone 6, running iOS8.0.2, downloaded all 3 apps and fired them up one by one, entered my details and away it went.. I will admit thought it was super slow to connect compared to my ipad and iphone4 however I am putting this down to his provider being optus and having ****ty reception where we were.. My provider is Telstra..

Are you using Dynamic DNS? Have you tried entering your DDNS address into safari or another web browser? and getting the wiser authentication message and then a blank screen? This will confirm you actually have remote access to your wiser..

Okay - a result.... of sort

I've spent the whole afternoon going through everything.

Ended up reinstalling the wiser and iphone from previous backups.

    Results:

The wiser is back in the WAN world with the iphone app (new version).
It works with WAN now; that being said none of my camera feeds work......(where before it did). when I say it works it still hangs about 5% of the time.
It fully works with LAN (camera feeds and all) although hangs 5% of the time too.

Both the original and 'OldApp' hang 95% of the time with LAN.
Both the original and 'OldApp' hang 100% of the time with WAN.

There's obviously still a problem with the older apps - Roosta, appreciate your time looking into this; but enough time has been wasted - there's obviously a problem with the app(s) still on the iphone5s.

Hmm interesting.. Perhaps some others can/will chime in with what they are using and if its working.. I find it difficult to believe that the issues would be unique to a single IDevice model..

It does seem weird that it would be device specific I agree, but I can confirm that I see the same results as Ambro:
I also have an iPhone 5S with iOS 8.02 (might try upgrading to 8.1 today)

old app hangs 95% on LAN
old app hangs 99% on WAN (I managed to get it to work once in about 50 attempts!)
New HD App hangs 95% on LAN
New HD App hangs 100% on WAN
