What's the point of limiting DLT's to only two applications?

    So either I don't understand the benefit of only having a primary and secondary application, but why would you limit a DLT to only two applications of control simultaneously?

    not so much a limit... as a restriction

    It's not a limit in the sense of "oh you only need 2". More a case of the microcontroller used would support that many. Of course there are bigger faster microcontrollers around but that does not make implementing the firmware a trivial exercise. In most installs most of the time 2 is enough. That and firmware development trade offs determine where all kinds of limits fall.
