Universal dimmer issues

Hello everyone,

I have a small setup of two 4 channel universal dimmers (DIMDU4) and two 12 channel relay modules.
I have also a RS232 gateway with a RPI running c-gate and homebridge without any issues.

The problem I have faced is dimmer related.
Dimmers are controlling IKEA LED lamps (which have excellent CRI btw) in Trailing Edge mode and one of the dimmers is behaving very strangely. Every once in a while when I switch on the light it doesn't instantly turn on as expected, but rather flickers very fast and after a few seconds pause it turns on at full power. After that I can turn off-on multiple times and everything works smoothly, so this happens when I am switching on the lights like a "cold start".

Any ideas on what could be causing the issue or at least where should I start dig into?

 

Delayed/flickering start up of led fixtures is generally caused by the led driver and not the dimmer. Simplest test is to swap the leds on 2 channels and see if the problem stays on the same led.

So if I have 5-6 GX53 LED lamps per channel from your words do I understand correctly that one of the lamps could be faulty or it is general incompatibility?

On the second dimmer I have a group (channel) with 2x of same GX53 LED lamps and everything works absolutely smoothly.

 

Does just one of the leds on the channel flicker, or all of them?

 

All of them on a channel.

 

Tried a 31LCDA? Clipsals load correction device might help.

 

Just to report that I have managed to overcome the issue.
Getting 31LCDA was a bit of a challenge due to overseas delivery, however the full analogue from Legrand (model 040149) has solved the flickering and other cold start problems.
On top of that it seems like the dimmering has become more smooth.
