Charlie, did you load the new Toolkit before the new Tica?

    Or after?

    Or not at all?

If it's not too much trouble could you do a test for me.

Download the software http://www.dependencywalker.com/depends22_x86.zip from this website http://www.dependencywalker.com

It is a simple "debugger" that may capture useful information about what is happening during loading of Tica.

    A) Extract the files form the zip and run the application "depends.exe".

    B) Select File|Open from the menu and browse to and select the Tica executable file. C:\CLIPSAL\Tica\Tica.exe

    C) Select the menu options Profile|Start profiling

    D) Check all the checkboxes on the dialog, EXCEPT "Automatically open and profile child processes"

    E) press OK.

Now the program will try and run Tica. Wait for Tica to crash and acknowledge all dialogs.

    A) Select File|Save As ... browse to a folder on you computer that you can find again, enter enter the name Tica.dwi and press save.

    B) Email me the Tica.dwi you just saved. I'll PM you the email address to use.

Arrr, good point Ashliegh. Tica 3.0 does require the new C-Gate shipped in Toolkit 1.7 and it quite likely will produce an error like this if the old C-Gate is present due to some legacy code issues that are still being resolved. So if you are using the old C-Gate then make sure you upgrade Toolkit and try again. If you have already upgraded and you definately have C-Gae 2.6.1 installed (and running) then follow the instructions above regarding dependancy walker.

Therefore, should the Installer (program) do a version check if there are any dependant files?

Either that or the program when run should be more informative.

mind you on the downloads page, the product compatibility chart does show that TICA 3 needs Toolkit 1.7 and C-Gate 2.6.1.

Though its easy to miss that in the excitement.

    Hi [IL]NewGen,

If you have updated Toolkit/C-Gate like it appears you have, you must use TICA 3.1. TICA 3.0 will no longer be able to connect to C-Gate and the error message you have shown in your post above, will be shown.

The error dialogue you have shown appears to have been generated from TICA 3.0.

I've updated all the software, including TICA to v3.1.0 doesn't make a difference, c-gate is v2.8.0, now it's asking me insert a disk into D:\ ?!

Do other pieces of software, like PICED, MARPA, and CIRCA connect to C-Gate OK?

I have never seen this before. What OS are you running?
