What's a simple quick and reliable method to periodically test/check that the we have an established link to a pci (cbus) ? -- e.g. sending a "very short" known command and getting back a "very short" known response "quickly" without actually transmitting anything on the cbus and without having to wait oodles of time? - assuming echo is off

One of the easiest methods is to ask the PC Interface for the C-Bus network voltage. It doesn't transmit any commands on the network and the response time is very fast.
