In the new CBUS dimmer under properties there is a list tick box in each channel for remote on and remote off.
Can someone please tell me how this is used - what happens if I untick the boxes?
There is no group associated with it just the tick box ?

One assumes this has to do with remote on and off from the rj45 jack on the c-bus network jack.
I cannot test ATM but this feature is irrelevant of group address assigned to the channels as a negative to pins 1/2 or pins 7/8 will trigger a remote on or off of the output channels, on the original Din units this is what the remote on off was referring to. From what you explain it looks like you can now control per channel this feature

Ah yes Ok make sense what you say.

I never liked this feature having a hard wired function that switches everything off/on.

With all that processing power surely a function program all channels on/off would make far more sense

HOWEVER if they cannot even get their act together to sort out SpaceLogic programing CBUS systems then this is a request that is neve going to materialise!

    Thanks

well in the original units that what the area address did - it appears that feature has been omitted in the new spacelogic devices. supposedly by year end the new SLC software should alleviate these issues of different software.

    YEAR END !!!!
    Which year ?

Its just not god enough to piss people about like this......

Schneider need to make it known that SCL should NOT currently be used with old CBUS installations.
Which of course means that the new dimmers should NOT currently be installed in old installations.

I think your not understanding the application of Remote on and Off,
But I understand that you may not have liked it previously in the older products because there was no way of making it at all selective to which channels or devices it would be applied to.

This Feature operates independently and with priority over the C-Bus Communications. It was primarily intended for use in Commercial applications where the Site may require a failover control that overrides the C-Bus and its communications with the output devices. In the event of some issue with the C-Bus, or in an emergency where loads should be forced on or off and not overridden by events on C-Bus the remote On / Remote off feature can be used
All new C-Bus Dinrail Products from the new DALI Gateway to new Dimmers and Relays can now select channel by channel to respond to remote on and/or remote off events.

This makes the feature more useful, as in many cases there are loads wired to devices like relays that should probably not be turned on / off in one of these events, Previoulsy if you had not wired the devices in such a way to support this feature it was basically rendered useless, the new CHannel by Channel selection aims to solve that and provide more flexibility to the feature.

Also the Automation Controls NAC2/AC2 are able to monitor and control the remote ON/OFF Lines, allowing you to automate such events if required. Previously, it was envisioned that this would only be done by a manual switch or input from, say Fire Alarm panel etc.

It's likely that unless you're doing a commercial Job that requires the remote override fail safes in place, you may not make use of this feature.

However, you may also find other applications for it, such as ensuring a known state of loads in the event of fire alarms or other safety features.

Remote On / Remote Off have priority over all other events. In the Previous C-Bus Output units, the feature was enabled by default, and if disabled, it was disabled for both on and off overrides. The new devices come from the factory with the same defaults, enabled for both on/off for all channels. If you have never had a problem with the feature in the old units, then there is no need to change any default settings in new units; however, if your someone who has wired to C-Bus things like Heaters and Fireplaces etc ,I would recommend disabling the Remote On option for these channels, it would just be good practice.
