    Howdi All,
I keep a serial number and product name log of all the CIS products I purchase. Which means the using a Bar code scanner to make life easier. The scanner I use is the 5100BCS.

When I scan the ?lift peel, serial number? on the outside of the box. It usually works first or second go, for example 001001093XXX.

When I try and scan the lower bar code, which is my preferred method, containing the model number as well, for example 5858R4F2AA 001001093XXX it does not work 9/10 times or worse.

This may seem trivial to most, which I can understand, but is not to me.

The scanner works flawlessly on most items, most of the time. However on the bar code as described above it seldom works at all.

Could the size, shape, density be looked into to resolve this issue. The issue is not the scanner, it is the code on the box.

    Cheers

    Hi Ross,

I'll take a look into this and let you know if there's any wiggle room on the size etc.

    Scanner

hehe, funny, I have been scanning about 50 units in today and have the exact same problem and was about to log the same fault. The large bottom barcode does not really work (even though the software tells you to scan this bar). I have found that the lift and peel code only works the second time, never the first.

And for some reason sometimes when you scan the large bar, the model appears in the serial box???

Very frustrating. Having said that, I think the bar code scanning is and will be a great feature.Oh and dont forget to hit F10 :D

    Chris.

    Hi Nobes,
Glad to hear its just not me.

I am scanning into a database program we use to keep tabs on stock I purchase and not into Toolkit as such. We scan units as they come out of the carton and onto the shelves.

We do scan into toolkit as required, post this process, this is however in the normal job/install scenario process.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Cheers

    Bar Code Scanning

    Hi All,
I have been reading with interest happenings regarding Bar Code &
scanning. I'm about to purchase a scanner for inputting into Cbus ToolKit
    data base.
I've looked at a Flic model HS2124-98 cordless blue tooth on the net.
    There is a spec sheet re codes supported - UPC/EAN/JAN,Code 39,Code 128,
    Interleaved 2 of 5. Minium X Dimension - 7.5mil (0.19mm) . (All means nothing to me).
Would this unit be any good or is there a better type ?
Any feedback would be greatfully apreciated.
    Thanks
    Merv
