I have an 8 channel relay out at my pool that works fine manually by pushing buttons on the relay and off to control loads BUT each time it's power supply/circuit breaker is turned on it crashes the rest of my cbus network.

All light switches then stop working and blink if touched leaving lighting in its then current state.

To make it more confusing, cbus toolkit cannot connect to the network whether that relay is powered up or not so am not sure how to diagnose what is occurring.

Can you give an idea of your C-Bus experience please
How are connecting your PC to the C-Bus net CNI, PCI, etc.
Is the Pool house on the same network as the rest of your home or via a bridge.
Either way check for correct wiring especially the colours

I have a 12 channel relay that has just developed the same fault. Thankfully I have another relay unit that has a dead power supply. I am hoping that I am able to resurrect one of the units with parts from the other.

The pool is on the same network and has worked fine for years so it will not be a wiring issue.

I connect to the network from PC via Ethernet to a colour touch panel on the same network. Unfortunately, the new cbus software toolkit and piced software versions do not like my project either, not that I was able to connect to my network anyway.

So, something is wrong with my network just do not know what it is as cannot get info it.

What is your location, a good cbus tech should be able to get you up and going, but sounds like a bad cbus voltage being made in the relay module.

Paul clipsal made many revisions on the relay and dimmer units, if you have 2 of the same manufacturer date you might be in luck, but they probably have the same fault... one dead and one half dead but still the same problem. Most people here know of the capacitor issue in the color touch screens, but the same problem cap can cause intermittent transmit errors all the way up to toolkit no being able to see the screen and it can also pull down the network.
    Regards Trevor

You cannot connect to a C-Bus network via a Colour touch screen, the ethernet of the CTC is for programming only.
Hopefully you have another means of connection to the network, use the find C-Bus Network feature in toolkit to help

    Correct Wonkey,
But also if the version of Piced is 4.14.2 or later there will be problems with the color touch screen as well.
Lets wait and see what he is using to connect to cbus and go from there.

We are finding more site where this problem happens and we have to replace the powered relay or dimmer.
Most are around 12-15 years old..

we had 2 12ch relays fail at the same site a couple of weeks ago. The site was 5 hours away and we had them up and running with in 24 hours and only 1.5 hours on site.
