By far the most common issue that i deal with is failed power supplies in dimmers and relays.
With many of the installations that i attend having borderline power available to start with the loss of one unit tends to cause problems. This is compounded when the failed unit seems to draw additional power (i could be wrong about that) from the bus.
On a couple of recent jobs the failed units didn't seem to be drawing any extra power so instead of replacing them i added a 5500PS instead which solved the issue (seemingly).

Its a lot cheaper than replacing a relay or dimmer (although the price for a 5500PS is outrageous) and it also provides a little bit of redundancy with the additional 150mA providing enough power to cover the failure of another unit should it happen ( small installations, 3 x inbuilt units with power-one now dead, have bypassed one good unit to simulate failure with 5500PS installed and system works fine).

Is there anything wrong with doing this?
