I'm having a few issues on site where the client has to stand under the PIR's and wave their hands around (flashbacks to Team America) to trigger the load on.

I have confirmed that the voltages are correct (28v+) and that the trim pots are set so that the sensor will operate in any lighting condition.

It seems to be an issue site wide over different networks so it may just be faulty sensors in this case but I was wondering if anyone else has come across this.

All sensors are the 360 type flushed into the ceiling.

Can you please confirm the unit type / model number?

You should also take this up with Technical Support.

    Sensor issues

Check the debounce time in the sensor.

Often programmers adjust it to make the sensors less sensitive to fakse triggers from A/C etc.

For memory it should be set to 96ms

    My aim is true

One of the more common reasons that we see is that during the test and commisioning stage the A/C in the building is not on, the background temperature (depending on location and season) can approch body temperature, the closer the 'target's' temperature is to the background the less sensitive the PIR will appear.

PIR's will typically respond at their rated range if all of the following are true:

    Mounted at correct hight

    'Target' is around 90kg

    >5C temp difference betwwen 'target' and background

    'Target moving at >1m/sec

Across the 'field of view' - not directly towards it

    Uncle Dick,

I only weigh 73 kilos, should I start drinking twice as much beer from today on ? ;)

    Cool tube of Larger

Well obviously if you drank ice cold beer it would make you a worse target,

If you drank heaps of spirits it could make you flushed, increase the blood supply to your skin and make you a better target.

If you remain a a trim 73kg's then typically you will find the range at which you are detected is less than for 90kg 'average' bod's

Of course you can always tip the scales back in your favour by stripping off a bit and exposing more skin, not having met you I'm not sure if that is a good idea :)

Replacing the PIR's has fixed the issue.

    Thanks for your help.
