    hello everyone
i have made a mistake and plugged the cbus network in to the rs232 socket on my pci despite the red warning sticker a bit of a brain freeze at the time. does this wreck the pci as my computer is unable to connect through the com port now however it worked immediatly following the error.

Ive done this in the past as well.

The PCI was fine, the USB to RS232 adapter was not.

Ive done that in the past too... twice.

Both times it was due to one side of a 24vdc power supply being shorted to ground. Plugging my pc in closed the path to electrical earth causing my laptop to take up smoking.

    Ouch:mad:

Although i have heard that if you are quick enough and can catch *all* of the smoke, you can put it back in and it will work again!:p
