    Hi All
Is it not possible to have a pc interface which can interpit a simple ascii message protocol that does not expose Clipsals on the wire protocol ...??

Then i could easily tie in my Homevision HA Controller and also my Genesis Security System....Im sure a lot of other devices can speak simple ascii text messages...??
    Thanks
    Frank

Depends what you want it to do and how much power you want it to have.

We think the PCI is already a "simple ASCII" protocol. It is related to the C-Bus on-wire protocol (but then, any protocol used ultimately has to be to convey the same power and concepts across, in some form or other).

If we had a very simple protocol ("ON 1", "OFF 2", a bit like a severaly trimmed down C-Gate) then there are LOTS of other things you could not do, and it would exclude the major growth options that will emerge over the next 5 to 10 years.

The PCI predominantly does take simple ASCII commands, that's what the C-Bus protocol mostly is. Part of the command set is publicly available for free via out C-Bus Enabled program. For more info check out www.cbus-enabled.com

    Hi Guys
Been there and requested the protocol for my own use but as yet i havent heard back....And having something that can only do simple things is better than having nothing at all....

I Spoke with the relevant people and they have some questions. I asked that they email you to sort them out.
