    hi people
just having a play with my new cbus and am trying to connect the pc interface to my computer, which is a toshiba. I am unfamiliar with pc's as i am a mac user. I cannot get the communication going between the two.
I have installed cbus toolkit and created a project. But am unsure of the next step. are there any settings to adjust on the pc to get the interface unit to be recognised? I bought a usb serial lead, and installed the driver that came with it. nothing. Should i look on the internet for another. alternitavely the manual reads that you can connect with a rj45 lead. how do you do this. Should the unit/comms L.E.D and cbus L.E.D when a connection is made or when they are talking to oneanother.?? any help would be great...

    Hello Manni.

Both the "Unit-Comms" and the "C-Bus" indicators should be lit. This shows you have power on the C-Bus network and a clock present and should be the first thing to check.
What brand of USB/Serial adaptor did you buy - CIS recommend the Dontronics brand available at http://www.dontronics-shop.com/home.php?cat=265

    thanks

thanks mr mark for the speedy reply
these lights don't iluminate, so that means that the computer is not recognising the pci.?!? should it recognise this only when toolkit is open or just when it gets plugged in?
and if its not "turned on" so to speak.. it would be the driver or the cable?

The Unit/Comms and C-Bus LEDs on the PCI should both be lit as long as the PCI is connected to C-Bus.

The Unit/Comms LED should blink when communicating with the PC. If the "Unit" LED is off, then you're probably not connected, or the network voltage is too low.

If the "C-Bus" LED is off, then you may not have a network clock, however if the rest of your network is working then this is obviously not the case.

Once you get over that hurdle, let us know if you need more help.
