    Hi Forum,

We have just received our Parmco 90cm down draft extraction unit for our new kitchen. It came supplied with a dimmer mech, in this instance would I be able to get away by using a dimmer channel as opposed to using capacitors and relay contacts to vary the fan speed?

I have no wattage rating for the fan motor (P1-9), but its air flow rating is 1000 cubic metres / hour.

What dimmer mech was it supplied with? Perhaps that will give you some clue to the rating..

    Hi Nick,

The manufacturers have supplied a "500 watt variable resistive load controller"
about the same size as a electroinc unit. Hope this helps.

Your best bet would be to test the fan with a leading edge or universal dimmer, and see if the results are satisfactory.
