    Hi All

I'm trying to communicate to a TPS poolCHEM contoller via RS232

Ive attached the logic summary and the PoolChem data

poolCHEM is a serial protocol with Software control Xon/Xoff. I dont belive the PAC support this but Ive added logic to try to replicate it. (I've also tried it without the logic.)

The problem I am having is that it will not read or write to the serial port.

The poolCHEM works as I have tested it with Hyper terminal.

    Ive tried numerous cable configurations.

Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this type of control?

    Thanks

Have you tried running your logic from within PICED and looking at its log to see if the serial commands are actually being issued? You need to select 'Show Logic Serial Commands' from the Log Options tab.

If they are being sent, then next thing to try is connecting the PAC to your PC, run Hyperterm and see if the commands appear there. Then you can type in a reply.

Don't forget that the PAC needs an RS232 supply. If the PoolChem doesn't supply voltage on its DTR/RTS lines (and it probably doesn't if it uses XON/XOFF) you will need an external 24V AC supply.

    Thanks Ashley,

    I'll give it a try. I have a 24V supply connected.
