When are we going to get the Dynamic in the DLT switches.
I would like to be able to change the text on the fly from a logic controller, need a command like send?dltext or is there an unlisted command already.

This is on the list of things to do (#7008). Not sure when it will happen.

I am sure that Dynamic Labelling is probably "intended" to be added at some time... an extract from both the User's Guide and Installation Instructions :

Or is that just false advertising ? :D

Dynamic labelling is there and works right now.

If you develop your own code and are a member of C-Bus Enabled you have access to the relevant protocol documentation.

If you use the free download Cbus Driver you can also do labelling.

If you use somebody elses logic controller they will need to add support.

Our own logic devices (CTC & PAC) have support coming at a future time.

MRA is perfectly capable of using dynamic labels right now and has done so from first release.

Toolkit obviously supports dynamic labels as does C-Gate. As Ashleigh mentioned the free CBus Driver (Windows + Linux) supports them as well.

Oh, and, DLT key switches support them as well !

Could be done now using CTC if you are a member of C-bus Enabled. As a memebr of C-bus Enabled you would get a copy of the C-bus protocol. Using this you could connect a serial PCI to the CTC serial port and issue the correct command using a script.

Such a process is possible but far from elegant.

Support in other products is planned, as I stated above. As usual we don't release any time estimates / schedules.

Changing text from devices like B&W or Colour touchscreen is a bit of an odd proposition, because those devices don't have keyboards. On-screen keyboard are possible, but horrible to use.

    Isn't this gilding the lilly?

What I want to do is change the text from a canned up selection using the logic engine in a colour touch.
So on the DLT switch one gang cycles a fan through high, med, low and off (which it does now) but as well as changing speeds I want to change the text in the DLT to reflect the change, at the moment thr gang says "Fan".
Guess I will have to wait for Darrens (#7008). Not sure when it will happen.
    So the lilly is fine

Just to add what I want to do with dynamic labelling ....

I now have a way of controlling the 10 or so Daikin aircon units in my house from code (java). I would like to use the second page of the DLT to lower/raise and reflect the temperature setpoint and also reflect the current temperature.

I have a pci and a pac and cgate running as a 24/7 service but if I understand correctly as I am not part of CBUS enabled I cannot do this yet ?

    Thanks
    Chris
