Today, we are announcing the up-coming release of a new C-Bus product. The C-Bus Digital Temperature Sensor Input Unit (Cat No 5104DTSI) will be available for purchase in the coming weeks (exact date to be confirmed but should be this side of Xmas). I've attached a datasheet for the product. Pricing information will be released in the coming weeks.

A new release of C-Bus Toolkit programming software (V1.12.2) will include the UI for the new product so it can be evaluated prior to the product becoming available.

A further announcement will be made once product is available for purchase.

Incidentally, the post announcing C-Bus Toolkit 1.12.2, which includes the UI for this product, can be found here.

Looking at the data and grn lines, you are probably using i2c bus. I'm wondering if there is a way of attaching a humidity sensor instead of a temp sensor. I'd like to have them in the bathroom that control the exhaust fan when someone's in the shower automatically.

One that I found with a quick oogle: http://www.futurlec.com/HH10D.shtml

It's not I2C, it's actually Dallas 1-wire (I2C is completely unsuitable for long off-board runs).

Technically the hardware is compatible with any 1-wire sensor that is powered by the 1-wire, however it would require firmware in the device to communicate with each different type of device, which is not possible.

Yes, 1-wire makes sense. I already use that for temp/humidity monitoring. Firmware that could handle daisy-chaining the sensors would be a nice plus too. It's a handy technique to string a line of temp. sensors (in say a concrete slab, or down the roof rafters ;-)

Is this product available in South Africa? A quick call to a local Integrator seems they are unaware of the release.

Ok, so I tried an Integrator locally - No Luck. I then tried the local Clipsal office and was promised an answer 'soon'. I am still waiting after a few weeks.

How difficult can it be??? Just tell me if this products is:

    1. Launched yet? (See top of post)
    2. What availability will be?
    3. An an indication of price. Hopefully not $99,999.00 as listed on an AU website

Am I expecting too much here?

    Thanks Roosta,

I would even go as far as importing these myself. Can you give some details on suppliers able to ship international orders? Even online local orders would be fine as a mate of mine stays in AU and can ship to me if nessasary.

I'm trying to get an understanding of the different sensors and what tasks they were designed for.

I'm assuming the 3 different shapes were chosen to suit particular installation needs.

Can anyone comment on what shape was designed for what use.

    Cheers

Can I confirm that the sensors that this unit uses are actually 1-wire sensors? As in DS18B20 or the like?
If this is the case then these sensor inputs will be fantastic as there are all sorts of configurations for 1-wire sensors (wall mount, roof mount, water proof.....).
