    Hi again
I have upgraded the CBus Toolkit to most recent version 1.15.7, had no trouble doing that -, copied across a backup file i made from about an hour before upgrade.
Project shows up in the projects, however when i go to connect to the network i get ERROR 22918 - PCI FAILED TO REST - UNABLE TO OPEN NETWORK.
    any tips

What sort of network interface are you using? Rs232, cni, shac cni etc,

Are you trying to connect this to a newly created cbus network or an existing one

Is the network settings configured to tell toolkit which interface to use?

1 Unplug the USB adapter and try in a different socket, Go in Computer management | Device manager and check what port the adaptor is using and that its reporting that its OK
2 On Toolkit go to the Network branch of your project and then select Edit network button, Change the network type to something different eg.
    upload_2022-4-15_15-50-38.png
Try and open the project it will fail then go back to Edit network and select serial and the correct port number that you discovered above and then open network
    If it fails
Try the old favourite and restart you Laptop.
There is a repair project feature under Project at the top right of the screen, but I don't think that your issue

If all fails create a new project with the correct network setting and see if that can open the project.
Provide feedback if it works so we can go to the next stage.

Unplug PC interface from C-Bus and the laptop leave them disconnected for a while whilst waiting download and install diagnosic utility from the Clipsal website.
See if diagnostic utility will connect to the network.
At least then we will know if it's toolkit soft ware or something else.

I just noticed that you are also investigating some form of integration.
The PC interface will only support one connection at a time.

So I reverted back to the original old version C-Bus Toolkit Version 1.10.9 ( build 471) and it works fine to the Network tab & database tabs. Backed up that file again last night.

Reloaded latest version 1.15.7 after disconnecting the Serial /USB cable for a while as suggested - without and luck as before and did the above diagnostic test and it produced a whole heap of information off the network ( all a bit double dutch to me but it was there).

So I'm i correct in thinking that version ( 1.15.7) wont work??

Try uninstalling C-Bus and C-gate make sure you have stopped C-gate look for Services in windows before uninstalling.
Then install toolkit again and when installing look for the option about C-gate as a server and say no.
If you are successful doing that you will notice a command prompt like window open when you open toolkit it way be a bit slower but you can see what's happening in the background.

Ok, none of that appeared to work, , no option i could see for unchecking C Gate as a server, only 'install C Gate as a Window service' which was unchecked
    C Gate pic attached
Does it help to install a version that is somewhere between the one used and the very latest and then upgrade from that to the latest? Just throwing ideas out there?

only 'install C Gate as a Window service' which was unchecked correct not having it install in front of me.
Give it a try updating versions at a time. But I have recently installed 1.15.7 on a laptop which has never seen toolkit before.
just to check you are running windows 10?
At some point in the past Toolkit (or to be more precise C-Gate had a breaking release can't remember when, have a read in the release notes on the website it may give you a clue.
Is there any chance of you connecting via a different interface, CNI type device.
I am starting to question if there is some issue with supporting programs, thinking of JAVA I am showing upload_2022-4-16_13-58-41.png

Have you tried disabling virus and firewall stuff, I keep thinking of ideas maybe someone else could chime in.

    Yes running window 10
I have only just started doing some changes and Ash on this forum gave me some connection options but i only have Serial to USB. My thoughts where to get it going and then i thought most well have the latest version of toolkit, and then read about wireless connections, so thought that ultimately would be ideal
I've gone back to loading version 1.10.9 as it works every time to keep making the changes i want

    Gday Steve
It seems you have already not installed CGate as a service.
This is probably the best way to run CGate as mentioned and no need to change.

When you open Toolkit you should see a minimised command prompt Window for CGate.
You can read that for a clue what is happening.
Also there is CGate logs located in C:\Clipsal\C-Gate2\logs

Could you please check device manager and find the manufacturer or chipset of your USB serial adapter.
CBus Network Connection Issues | C-Bus Forums (cbusforums.com)
If you have a Prolific chipset that will likely be the problem.
FTDI chipset is the one you want.

    Hi Daryl
see screen shot attached - looks all garbled to me, the manufacturer is on it - Prolific which i purchased from Jaycar
I haven't tried closing firewall or virus as suggested by Wonkey as yet, as i keep having to reload the newer version and when it doesn't happen i revert back to the old
