hi guys, does anyone know if it is possible to use 2 distrubution units (for 2 audio inputs) to distribute audio to ALL zones and listen to the 2 different inputs in any zone.thinking of this method instead of using a matrix

    thanks

no, any changing of souce requires a Matrix Switcher

    Phil,
When using the BAD (56011) as a single source, the wiring topology is in the form a daisy chain, looping from one amp to the next. If a job is wired with this method an upgrade path allowing multiple sources via Matrix Unit will be difficult to achieve therefore a commoning point with star topology is better. Something to consider here will be the lengths of wiring runs that this will result in.

Actually thinking about this using a Audio Distribution unit and local may allow toggling between the 2. Would have to check with the other to see how that works.

You can use 2 distribution units to provide a multi-source signal by using a 8 way 2 position rotary switch to switch all 8 signals in the digital audio cable. A very cheap and nasty way to do it. Other than that an amp with no matrix switcher will still allow switching between the local line level input and the digital input - you would need to run the line level input to all amps in parallel. All source switching, apart from local line level input, is done in the matrix switcher. The digital audio cable is only ever carrying one source at a time.
