I currently have a network interface (5500CN) to my cbus network, which I am talking to from a windows xp box.

I would like to be able have a service on a linux server which talks to the 5500CN. Is it possible? I'd prefer to program in java if possible.

    Search this forum...

You can run C-Gate on Linux. C-Gate is a Java application.

If you run C-Gate, you can write other Java applications to make socket connection(s) to C-Gate and do whatever neato stuff you want.

Worth remembering that you can only open 1 connection to a CNI at any given time. If you're connected to it via a Linux box (or any other box) then you won't be able to simultaneously use your XP box.
