I finally got it sorted.

I learnt the existing JVC codes in marpa that worked on the TV to learn IR protocol and the asociated codes.
I then opened the xml file in notepad and compared it to the xml file I learnt from the remote.
It was a different frame structure - marpa was I, remote was iJ -
by using half of the learnt code and transposing it into the other xml file (the marpa one) it worked

I am having the same problem with a JVC remote. Would you be able to send me the XML file with the protocol that worked for you?
