Hi everyone, new to the forum, sure to be here more often

Ideally I need to obtain the discrete codes for a panasonic ax100e projector, alternatively I have been trying to tab through some inputs via IR, utilising the logic in CTouch.

The trouble Im having is the NIRT tabs too many screens at once, I have reduced the frame count from 4 to one in circa, the test works fine, a quick blink of the indicator etc.

Once downloaded and triggered via a level on the CTouch, the Indicator light in NIRT flashes for maybe 2sec. Enough to Tab a couple of screens.

Is there something Im missing?????? I need to replicate a quick press of an IR remote.

There was an issue a bit like this in earlier v2 versions of Circa. Are you using the latest, i.e. 2.3?

Yes the Circa is 2.3, I am hanging out for the USB download cable etc

The presentation room has a meeting on Tuesday, I was hoping to sort something by then, I will have another good lok around for the Panasonic discrete codes ( but Im pretty sure panasonic is poor for these).

There is also the option of using the RS232 connection on the projector, but for me this maybe just complicating the project more.

Have already purchased a usb to serial (too slow for NIRT)
purchased a PCMCIA to serial (then realised I have an express slot)
purchased a Express Card to serial (too slow again? for NIRT)

I am now using an old laptop as well with the PCMIA converter to tranfer data seems to work fine etc

Hi 72-RT I have the discreet input codes for that particular projector in hex format or as a RTI ir library but as far as i know there is no discreet on/off codes. let me know if you still need them and i'll send them to you.

    Interesting

This morning I checked the Circa file and iit was set to 4 frames not 1. If I increase to say 5 frames and save, it saves.

If I decrease to 1 or 2 frames, it tests fine, but does not seem to save to file, is 4 frames the minimum to set to, I think Ill check the XML file and see what I can do

    Hi, Will

Those discrete codes would be fantastic, the ON/OFF toggle seems to work alright with the logic.

The discrete codes for the inputs is what was causing me problems, other than having difficulty with a short IR pulse, the amount of presses you need to get the right input, differs depending on if PC etc is connected or not.

    this link here

    http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=911

makes me think the protocol, gives a range between 4 to 255

maybe the test at one frame works, but once saved it reverts back to 4 frames etc

The minimum number of frames is specified in the XML file that is created when you learned the IR codes. Interesting that Circa should allow you to set a lower number than that, but that's where the limit is defined.

    Frames

When you test it, it does send a 1 frame IR signal. Would be nice to be able to ammend the XML file to simulate how it tests.

I altered the XML to change the limit on the protocol from 4 to 1-255

now it actually saves 1 frame in the circa file but still sends the 4 count as this is what was learnt, i guess

Maybe I should start knocking off some of the little 'a's in the AaAaAa

    :)

    Any suggestion welcome

Another option might be to change the settings in the IR Reader when learning the code, although this may or may not work depend a bit on the structure of the code itself.

Go to the 'File -> Preferences' menu, click on the 'Advanced' item and tick the box for 'Allow Decoding Parameter Edit'. This will add an 'Options' item to the menus at the top of the UI. Within that 'Options' menu select 'Edit IR decoding parameters'. Click on the 'Minimum gap between frames' item and then change it's value, using the drop-down box, to 20ms.

This will make the IR Reader expect a longer gap between the data frames. If the pauses in IR data are less than 20ms then IR reader will try and capture the IR commands as 1 single continuous string.

In this way the length of the IR data will depend completely upon how long you hold down the button.
