Ipad control of AC2

I have a customer who has turned there house into a B and B.

They have an application controller connected wirelessly to an Ipad in a wall mount.

I have created a link on the Ipad to get rid of the information bar.

Tenants keep playing with the Ipad and someone has even downloaded a game onto it.

The letting agents have go site frequently to reset the Ipad.

I have done a trial offsite putting an Ipad into Kiosk mode.

This stops people playing with it but the problem is if there is a power failure the Ipad loses it connection.

It then has to be removed from the wall mount, taken out of kiosk mode, reconnected and put back in kiosk mode.

Is there a solution to this problem.

 

Run the iPad off a power bank that is permanently on charge (i.e. a cheap ups)

 

I looked into this a while back for my own purposes, something like the ManageEngine free tier may do what you need.
Too much to setup to be worthwhile for me, but if you have a customer that wants all scenarios covered then MDM is the way.

 

i've done this before - setup the ipad for 'guilded access' which will lock out the guest from opening / closing apps (password protected)

as for the ipad losing connection after power fail/ network dropouts - setup a 'browser refresh' so the ipad can automatically refresh the webpage - have a look at this solution - iPad SHAC display stops working intermittently | C-Bus Forums

this is a known issue - the web page loses the web sockets connection .. it could be anything that causes it - wireless network restart, wireless network outage, ipad services update, etc ..

apart from the above suggestion - we normally put a time clock on the home screen and a reconnect button in the project ... we tell our clients that if they see the time incorrect or stopped, hit the reconnect button
