Can you elaborate? I didn't think they were even available in US per my Schneider guy.

I didn't mention a specific product. Talk to your Schneider guy again.

It applies to the US where the lighting control part of the company has very little marketshare except for powerlink.

Wait, are you saying that everyone in the USA with Clipsal stuff installed wont be able to add to or even service their hardware anymore?

All I know is that they have shut down their US plant.

"U S. Schneider Electric has made the strategic decision to exit from the C-Bus product family in North America. New products will still be available through the Australian team."

That's straight from the Director of the Lighting Controls Division.

    No opporutinty???

    Wow!
That defies logic, think of the population of the US ~280mil, the percentage of middle and upper class, and there are many millions of large houses (like bigger than our 1/4 acre blocks of land) primed for C-bus, where they just uses standard switches (according to my info). Missed opportunity.

    The Aussie Battler lives on.....

I think C-Bus having such a late release into the market has not helped them. There are a plethora of bus controlled or power line controlled systems over there and some are probably getting on 30 plus years and still developing new products.

So to crack into a market with an existing over serviced and spoilt for choice market was always going to be a tough one. Most of these systems I talk about have interfaces to home automation/security panels and again have for donkey's years. So the market has been well serviced....

It is a pity because I believe the C-Bus system to be in many ways superior to what is offered in the the US. Just too late getting there.

I'm sure the people that used to install it will continue to service it, just not Schneider. They are shutting down cbys lighting control in the US, but not powerlink. You might get warranty work as they typically cover that through some stated end of life period. If you need parts, you will have to buy from other countries and have it shipped here.

Its not a core part of the company's business, and it's probably easier to buy a player with more market share rather than wait for Clipsal to get a footing here. Besides, most home automation is going wireless, and I'm not sure if Clipsal has that expertise.

Policy used to be 5 years spares and support.

It had been growing for years until it lost support higher up.

AS for wireless. Ha ha ha ha, screams of hysterical laughter. If only you knew the full story.
