    Hi,

We have 2 clients with the old HPM icontrol system. Was wondering if anyone has replaced one of these with a c-bus system and if it was possible to make use of the exisiting iControl bus cabling?

It depends on the type of cable that was used for iControl. IControl could be wired in figure8 or cat5 cable.
If it's wired in cat5, then should be OK

    Hi
I know of one job (two story house) where we replaced HPM IControl with CBus and replaced about 75% of figure 8 cable with cat5 the rest was not accessible. We made no promises to the customer regarding how well it would work but it worked OK. When CBus was first released 1994 it was run on the old cream coloured telephone cable (Cat 0 ??)
    Good Luck

Thanks for the replies, the existing cable is the orange figure 8.

The property is a 3 story pre-cast slab town house, cable access is not the greatest.

We have done a few tests with the figure 8 cable and the network seems stable enough.

Had a discussion with the client and We have opted to replace as much of the cable as we can without cutting holes, and retain the figure 8 where patching would be required. Luckily it’s only a small simple network of 30-35 devices controlling lighting only, we will be integrating with a control4 system for AV, blinds, heating, cameras and security.
