Curious if anyone knows how to default the CNI so that you can get back into the device if password details etc are lost (kids trashed note!!!).

Also, prior to configuring CNI above, has had probs with Lantronics Device installer in that even though you can ping / telnet (& subsequantly login) to the device successfully, the Device Installer won't find the CNI via the search tools (using either the IP or MAC address method)?

    Regards,

    Addressing

    Aussie,

An IP address is meaningless without a subnet mask.

Ensure the subnet mask (eg, 255.255.255.0 = class C) of the computer you are using is the same as that programmed into the CNI. Then you have to ensure (based on the mask) that the IP addresses in the PC and the CNI line up for the network components.

It can be a little confusing however once you get your head around it, it is very easy if not interesting to work with IP addressing. This will be very important as we all have to start dealing with networks with non standard subnets eg 255.255.255.192 or /26.

I have a great reference doc on all of this so drop a line if you would like a read.
