I think you are confusing the 5500PC with the 5500CN

The 5500PC connects via RS232 directly to a PC (or other device with RS232 capabilities). The 5500CN is a Cbus to TCP/IP (network) device with the Lantronix 'engine' which facilitates connection to a Local Area Neywork (LAN). It is not possible to connect a 5500PC to a LAN without other equipment such as an RS232 to TCP/IP converter. It's more cost effective to buy a 5500CN.

The 5500PC has a D9 connector in the middle of the cover, it also has some RJ45 connectors for serial. These RJ45 connectors can be used INSTEAD of the D-9, but they are only serial, they are not ethernet.

If you want ethernet, you need to use a 5500CN.

As above. The CN is real easy to connect to your network and works a treat. I use it as my connection module on site now as its way faster than the PCI.

Would like to use it to connect ot my network remotely, but my BT Homehub sucks, the DynDNS doesnt work properly and the DHCP pools are locked in, got to sling it in the bin and install something worthwhile.
