Any word on timeline for CBus supporting HomeKit?
You could download the free Cbus Module software and do it yourself and then contribute it back to the community.
We wish! I have looked at HomeKit integration in detail, and I would go so far as to say it is almost impossible for anybody other than a very large company with deep pockets. HomeKit is in no way generally available and you need to have a qualifying product that is built in an apple certified factory. In fact getting any information at all is like trying to join the secret society. Suffice to say after months of trying to get the ball rolling, we barely even found the front door, let alone got through it. Apple have it stitched up so tight, nobody is prepared to give out any information. So we just gave up. Cheers Rohan
Every year the homekit supported vendors includes "Schneider Electric" What is this mystery product they have that supports home kit ?? We know it is not cbus !! Charles
It would truly open up the market of Cbus to allow other 'home' products to integrate. Saw it there again at recent Apple announcement under ios10/HomeKit. BenC
Any one interested in HomeKit you should try out openhab. A fellow Aussie wrote a cbus binding for it. I've got it working reasonably well on a raspberry pi with cgate running on it. The only thing I'm having trouble with is openhab isn't receiving status updates from cbus when a load it changed outside of openhab/homekit. I suspect there is an element of user/config error on my part. I have not been able to get a hold of the developer of the binding to help me troubleshoot it. In any case I recommend it to anyone who would like to have a crack a homekit integration.
There's also a new open source platform called Home Assistant which is making some waves. It's supposed to be easier to use but doesn't yet have as many components (integration plugins) as Open HAB. Does anyone know Python 3? A C-Bus component would be very cool. https://home-assistant.io/components/
Thanks for the tip. I'll check that one out also. At first glance the components/plugins look a little more organised and grouped together ie lighting, media etc , but, as you said there aren't too many components yet. A cbus component would be great, but, my python skills are very limited.
Daniel, Are there any chances of SE producing this integration to allow the Clipsal line of hardware to be integrated into third party control systems? This would definitely help drive sales. Many getting into home automation are starting out with home assistant and looking only at hardware compatible with the system.
