Can it be done? Gut feel says probably not, but if I don't ask......

I have C-Gate2 running as a service on Windows 2003 server. ServerX sits happily ticking along somewhere too. I don't really want to have to log-in, run Homegate and then leave the thing logged in - I would much prefer Homegate to run as a service and just "be there".

Possible, or am I in dreamland?

    Cheers,

    Nick

Hmmm.. there is no inbuilt support for running as a service. However, there is a program called Srvany.exe that ships with the Windows Resource Kit (Which i think you would have with Windows Server 2003).

Srvany.exe allows you to run any Windows app as a service. However, some programs may not work correctly depending on how they handle certain windows messages. I don't know if HomeGate falls in to this category or not.

There are heaps of examples on the web on how to use this program.

Let me know how it goes.
