The Homegate V3.9 is intermittently losing the connection with the C-Bus network.
The Matrix switch had died. I completely bypassed the MRA system (matrix and amplifiers) but the HomeGate is still losing the connection. I have enabled the log file as described in one of the older posts and I am hoping somebody will have a look at the file and will give me an advice.
    Thank you very much.

EDIT: The log file has been taken after I removed the audio system from the network.

From the C-Gate log's i could not see that it was disconnecting and reconnecting to C-Bus.

The file you attached only contains the C-Gate logs. Did you enable Log To File within the Log Form accessible from View | Log menu option such that HomeGate logs are created. Check your \Clipsal\HomeGate folder for a datetime stamped file with extension .txt with datetime corresponding to the time you were seeing the issues. If not already checked ensure that you have Show Info Messages, Show C-Gate Messages, Show Usage and Debug Messages checked within the LogForm Options and rerun HomeGate to grab new logs (both C-Gate and HomeGate showing the issues).

Additionally it would help to have your HomeGate project exported to an archive and including your C-Bus project.

Is there a reason you have not updated your version of HomeGate? The latest public release is 4.12.1. Backup your HomeGate project files to a safe location as a precaution before updating.

What is actually happening, C-Gate finds an error in the network and starts re-scanning/syncing the network. While this is happening I cannot control the lights from HomeGate. At the end of the sync I can control the lights from HomeGate again until C-Gate starts scanning again. See the attached screenshot from the log file.

The system has been working without any issue for about 5 years until a couple of weeks ago. The PC is stand alone, not connected to internet or LAN. No changes/updates have been done. The only change was the Matrix Switch died and probably other module was affected as well. Could have been caused by a surge in the mains. Since then I have this issue.

I have scanned the network with Toolkit and everything seems to be OK. All modules are there and no errors when scanning.

    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

The upgrade from version 3 to version 4 is not free.
I could not justify buying another licence when this one did the job.

    Hi dsamson,

I see you are using C-Gate 2.6.1. The line you highlighted, "Net Sync: PCI sync failed." was erroneously emitted by this C-Gate during all syncs, it doesn't actually represent a failure. This bug (internal ref: CG-681) was eventually fixed in Toolkit 1.10.7 build 456 / C-Gate 2.7.1 build 2281, released 29 October 2009. Unfortunately that version isn't compatible with Homegate 3.9.

I can't see anything in the log that would give more information on the problem you describe. Having said that, there's been a lot of work done on the software since then; in particular S+/HG 4.0 projects are much less affected by a C-Gate sync.

Could you please have a look at this file? This log file is before I bypassed the MRA from the system.
    Thank you.

    Hi dsamson,

Yes, the network goes into error here when the PC_WHAM at address 86 doesn't respond to a query after 3 attempts:

This can happen if units are powered off (MRA Amplifier, MRA Matrix, PC_GIM, Colour CTouch). The C-Bus part of them is still alive but some values are retrieved from the powered off side. This bug (internal reference CG-800) was also fixed in Toolkit 1.10.7 build 456 / C-Gate 2.7.1 build 2281, released 29 October 2009, such that these powered off units no longer put the network into error.

    Hi Daniel,

Could you please explain how you read these error messages. This will help me in the future.
    Thank you

Hi dsamson, you mentioned the network was going into error so I located the line with "State=error Previous=ok" and worked backwards from there to find the cause. The second byte in the command "\465609001AFD08p" is the unit address (86 in decimal) and other parts of the log indicate what unit lives there.
