    Probably Ok.

If you have the Vista license you can apparently phone Microsoft and get a code for installing XP. Supposedly no charge. So if you have an XP CD lying around you could install that and use your new XP code with it.

Obviously its worth trying to get the code before starting to blow vista off and put XP on.

One other thing: I've been told that using Vista for applications that need to run a long time (eg HomeGate) is probably a bad idea. Apparently Vista is not quite stable enough yet, and the average time for it to run before dying is about 4 days. This could be garbage, or it could be true, I have not done any tests. Just consider it warning!
