Home Assistant / MQTT

Hi All,

I'm currently using homebridge successfully and have started to explore Home Assistant.

I'm wondering if there's anyone out there successfully using it today? There seems to be a few bits and pieces around the internet but I cannot put my fingers on any robust script/instructions.

If you're using it successfully today - what are you using to communicate between home Assistant and MQTT?

I was hoping to be able to use homebridge as the middleware given that is working well... but it seems not.

 

Grab raspberry pi board or similar SBC and install C-Gate & MQTT -https://github.com/the1laz/cgateweb

This will get C-Bus events onto your MQTT server, then just add the items in Home Assistant.
(Check out Tileboard for a great front end for Home assistant too.)

 

Thanks Damaxx for the recommendation. I used Home assistant and ha-cbus2mqtt.
Works great very easy to setup. What is the best addon? is a good choice or is there a better method. I am using CNI module.

 

I have upgraded to a SHAC Jako, which can connect to an MQTT broker without using C-Gate - https://www.map59.com/home-assistant-cbus-mqtt-and-philips-hue/ so haven't needed to use Cgateweb for a while. I did tinker with this one a while back - https://github.com/micolous/cbus
It can be installed in a Docker container so easy to setup and run without issues with updates, etc.
