Hello, I am selfbuilding and I want to install CBus throughout the house. I will get a qualified electrican to do the wiring of the CBUS so no worries on that front. However, what I do want to do is run the actual electrical cableing and CBUS CAT5 myself. The CBUS Ive got my head around, i work in IT / Networks so am ok with this part. My question really is about the electrical wiring from the light fitting back to the CBUS relay.

From what I understand it is effectivly one length of traditional 3 Core electrical wire from the light fitting to CBUS unit, at the CBUS unit the Live, Neutral and Earth are split and go into different terminals of the CBUS Relay. Have I got the idea right?

    Your help is appreciated!

    Thanks

Yep.. that's pretty much it... each load (or group of loads that are switched by one channel) is wired back to the switchboard containing the dimmer/relay.

Depending on the size of your installation, you may want to spread your dimmers/relays out over several switchboards to save on cabling back to them.
