DMX and Automation Controllers

Not sure if this has been asked i had a quick search and no luck.

2 part question.

Short of using the 5500dmx or other hardware is there any way you can control dmx via the automation controller.
Can we send other protocols out.


Is there any way to over come the 12 ga (Cbus to Dmx) limit on on the 5500dmx without adding an addtional unit.
Need 16 to 32.

 

I’ve used an Enttec splay before to control Dmx lighting - there’s a lua module been written for the Nac / shac on the Schneider website

I thoroughly recommend looking at the Visual Productions products - specifically the CueCore3 (or 2 if you don't need as much grunt).

They are infinitely configurable, and have lots of smarts built in. They have thought of pretty much everything.
For example, you can record a complex DMX show into the system - then tell it which channels are 'dimmer' channels for all your fixtures, and it will be able to control the brightness or colour aspects of your pre-recorded show. It has a quasi 'patch' system.
