Hi all putting a new cbus system in my house curious if there is a good reason to put Dali in or if using cbus dimmers alone is ok.

We use Dali for all led strips now, and Dali spots where we can.
We get better dimming control on Dali and the spots may cost more but can dim 128 per Dali gateway.

For me Dali in a residential environment is mixed, you do cut down on cabling, increase flexibility and for very large homes it can be a good choice. However when you have issues they can become very difficult to find and difficult to fix. You also need to consider if 1 light where to fail you cant just get the run of the mill electrician to replace it.

Also the early DALI 2 gateways had issues that often didn't come to light 1-2 years after install that are very time-consuming to fault find and replace, I have had to replace 7 so far although they where covered after warranty.
