    Hi all,

Can anyone confirm what the actual DALI ballast power consumption is when the digital signal is in the 'OFF' state i.e 0V.

PSC it is a pleasure to be off assistance.

For some time the standby current for a DALI ballast in the off state has been in the order of 1 Watt.

Tridonic Atco now have a new processor chip "Xitec" in their ballasts and they now state the standy current in the off state is less than 0.5 of a Watt. Interestingly they also state that for a 28W fluoro fitting the full consumption of the new ballast at 100% is 30.9 watts.

    I trust this helps ;)

    Hiya PSC

    I second Mr Lucky.

We've heard for some time that "about 1 watt" is pretty much the normal off-state consumption of a DALI ballast.

    Which does not sound much.

Until you figure that a large building could be pulling 10 kW or more when all the lighting is off. That's still quite a power bill (if you and I were to pay it).
